St. George Island development coming before P and Z tonight

The Franklin County Planning and Zoning Board will meet tonight to discuss a proposed commercial development for St. George Island. The board will discuss whether to recommend that the county commission allow the construction of an 8000 square foot commercial building on Franklin Boulevard. The developer, Olivier Monod, has said the building will likely house his real estate office and possibly a grocery store. The issue has already been considered by the P and Z; it was tabled after Planning and Zoning board members decided that they should first create a comprehensive plan for the island before approving the building. The plans for the structure were changed so now the P and Z will reconsider the proposal. The P and Z meeting will begin at 6:30 today. It will be held at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
