Franklin County Commission says road project not fully complete

County commissioners say they aren’t fully pleased with the year long road repair project that was completed on Highway 98 between Eastpoint and Carrabelle. The nearly 35 million dollar project was completed in late September – the work was designed to fix portions of the highway that were damaged during Hurricane Dennis and protect the highway from future storms. Most of the work was done on the south lane of the highway, and only that lane was repaved – which commissioners say left the highway a little uneven in places like the intersection of Highway 65, at the Franklin County school entrance and near Yent’s Bayou. They also said that the striping of the road is inadequate in some sections. The board said they would like the Department of Transportation to take a look at the road and see if anything can be done to even things out. They expect to speak with DOT representatives about the issue this week.
