An Eastpoint man was arrested Friday for growing marijuana in his home. Officers with the Franklin County Sheriff’s department arrested Douglas J. Topham last Friday. Sheriff’s officers made the arrest after serving a search warrant on Topham’s home at 135 Daisey where police found that Mister Topham was using two rooms of his mobile home as marijuana grow operation. One of the rooms was concealed by a false wall designed and constructed for the sole purpose of growing and cultivating marijuana. Lighting equipment, watering equipment, bedding material, fertilizers and nutrients, and documentation on how to grow marijuana were also seized. Deputies seized an estimated 14 thousand dollars worth of marijuana as well as opium seed pods, Morphine and Xanax medication. Mister Topham has been charged with Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute, Possession of Xanax, Possession of Morphine and Cultivation of Marijuana. More charges are pending further investigation.
