Shoreline restoration work begins at Indian Creek Park

Work will begin this week on the shoreline restoration project at Indian Creek Park in Eastpoint which will affect where people can park at the site. Work was actually slated to begin in July, but there was an issue getting all of the permits so it was delayed until this week. The project will restore the shoreline along the bay front of Indian Creek Park by removing about 300 feet of the existing bulkhead and replacing it with a rock breakwater. That work will extend from the edge of the Old Ferry Dock Road boat ramp to Indian Creek and should return the shoreline to the natural slope. The project also includes planting some natural vegetation along the shoreline. The job will require heavy equipment and large rocks in the work area, which will keep people from being able to park near the old Ferry Dock Boat Ramp. Instead parking will have to move next to North Bayshore Drive for a few weeks while the shoreline restoration work is in progress. A number of parking stops have already been placed along North Bayshore Drive to make it easier for people to see where to park.
