Flood warning remains in effect for Apalachicola River

A Flood Warning for the Apalachicola River is still in effect but should be lifted late this week. The flood warning affects Calhoun, Franklin, Gulf and Liberty counties along the Apalachicola River. The river at Blountstown is currently above 18 feet – the river crested at 20.5 feet on Saturday. Flood Stage is 15 feet. The river is expected to fall below that level at Blountstown late Thursday – the flood warning should be lifted late Friday afternoon. The high river levels are being caused by heavy rains to the north brought on by the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida. People with interests along the river should continue to monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect life and property. Do Not Drive Cars or walk through Flooded Areas.
