Florida makes filing complaints against health care providers easier

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration has just made filing complaints against health care facilities in Florida a lot easier. The agency has launched an online health care facility complaint form where people can file complaints about 41 types of health care service providers, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and home health agencies. The on-line form allows people to file complaints anonymously about a number of concerns ranging from billing practices to food quality and overall care provided to patients. You can find the online complaint form at FloridaHealthFinder.gov. The only information needed to file a complaint is the name of the health care facility, address, date of the incident, and the patient/resident’s name and date of birth, if available. In 2008, the Agency received 7,788 complaints from Floridians through phone calls and written correspondence.
