Governor Charlie Crist in October named three new members and re-appointed one other to the Northwest Florida Transportation Corridor Authority. James Anders of Seacrest Beach was reappointed to the board, the new members include Ashton J. Hayward of Pensacola, Robert E. McGill of Destin and Carey Scott of Panama City. All of the members will serve through August of 2013. The 8 member Transportation Corridor Authority was created by the legislature in 2005 to develop a master plan for US Highway 98. That plan is supposed to focus on reducing congestion, increasing safety, stimulating local economies and providing better hurricane evacuation. Franklin County's representative on the board is County Commissioner Cheryl Sanders.
