Fish and wildlife officers are trying to find out who shot a young female black bear in Carrabelle over the weekend. The injured bear was reported on Sunday; it was seen near Avenue C North. The bear was obviously hurt and was unable to climb. Fish and Wildlife officers darted the bear and found the bear had been shot once in the front shoulder. The bear was kept overnight and then released on Monday in a secluded area of the Apalachicola National Forest. Fish and Wildlife officers are investigating the shooting and are looking for help from any witnesses. If you have any information about the bear shooting you can report it at Florida wildlife alert hotline at 1-800-404-3922. A reward is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest.
