Franklin County now 25 weeks with no swimming advisories

Franklin County made it through another week without a swimming advisory.

Last week marked the 25th week without a local swimming advisory; the last advisory issued for any of the 6 local beaches tested for bacteria was on June the 29th.

The Local heath department takes water samples from 4 sites on St. George Island as well as from Carrabelle beach and Alligator Point. They look for bacteria like e-coli or enterococcus in the samples that could pose a health hazard to swimmers.

There were also no swimming advisories issued for Wakulla County last week or for Gulf County. If you would like to see weekly swimming advisory results for yourself, you can follow the link we’ve set up on the news page at oysterradio.com.
