Highway 65 could reopen by the weekend

Chipley – Motorists traveling State Road 65 in Franklin County will face another day of detours due to the closure of the Graham Creek Bridge. The bridge was closed late Wednesday, after Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) bridge inspectors discovered damage to a bent that supports the end of the bridge span. FDOT structure crews are currently working to repair and hopefully reopen the bridge by the weekend.

The bridge is about 10 miles south of the Franklin/Liberty County line. State Road 65 runs through the Apalachicola National Forest and Tates Hell State Forest, connecting S.R. 20 in Liberty County to U.S. 98 in Franklin County.

A detour route using U.S.98, U.S. 319, S.R. 267 and S.R. 20 has been set up for through traffic.
