Franklin County TDC Receives Tourism Grant from VISIT FLORIDA
Apalachicola - The Franklin County Tourist Development Council
was recently awarded a $5,000 Culture Heritage and Nature Tourism grant from
VISIT FLORIDA, to create a ³photo bank² of the cultural resources of the
area, focusing on the region¹s seafood heritage. The grant is a
collaborative effort with both the Gulf and Wakulla County Tourist
Development Councils.
³We were pleased to be selected and we look forward to building
a photography collection that all three counties can use in their various
marketing efforts,² said Joe Taylor, TDC board member who helped coordinate
the tri-county effort. According to Taylor, representatives of the three
TDCs will now sit down and plan the specific strategy for contracting
photography services across the three county area highlighting the
region¹s seafood as well as each community¹s cultural, historic and natural
amenities.
The TDC grant is one of several grants awarded locally by Visit
Florida during this grant cycle. Other recipients of grant funding through
the Visit Florida program included Florida¹s Forgotten Coast Plein Air
Invitational and the Big Bend Scenic Byway.
The purpose of these grants is to help non-profit entities and
local governments stretch their tourism marketing dollars in an effort to
expand cultural, heritage, rural and nature tourism activities in Florida,²
said Chris Thompson, President & CEO for VISIT FLORIDA.
