Carrabelle man killed in head-on collision

An elderly Carrabelle man was killed Wednesday morning in a two car accident on Highway 98 just west of Lake Morality Road.
80 year old Willard Chisholm died from his injuries in a head-on collision that happened just after 7 o’clock yesterday morning.
Mister Chisholm was in his Mazda Pickup truck heading toward Lanark Village to cut grass when a Toyota Tundra driven by 71 year old Milton Mercer of Omega, Georgia swerved into his lane causing the crash.
The Florida Highway patrol says they do not yet know why the Tundra swerved into the wrong lane.
Mister Chisholm was killed instantly and pronounced dead at the scene.
Mister Mercer suffered critical injuries and was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The accident required that Highway 98 be closed between Highway 67 and Lake Morality Road for a few hours while the crash was cleaned up.
Traffic was instead routed through Highway 67 and Lake Morality Road.
The Carrabelle police, Franklin County sheriff’s office, the local ambulance service as well as the fire departments from Carrabelle and Lanark Village assisted at the scene.
