At 11:00am EDT the National Hurricane Center began issuing advisories for Tropical Depression 16. Tropical Depression 16 is located 390 south-southwest of Miami and moving to the north-northeast at 10mph. Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for Jupiter Inlet, FL, to East Cape Sable, FL, including the Florida Keys. Tropical Storm Watches are in effect from Jupiter Inlet, FL, to Sebastian Inlet, FL, and from East Cape Sable, FL, to Chokoloskee, FL.
Current Weather:
Around 11:00am EDT, the broad area of low pressure over the northwestern Caribbean Sea developed into Tropical Depression 16. TD #16 is currently located around 180 miles south of Havana, Cuba, which is around 390 miles south-southwest of Miami, Florida. Maximum sustained winds are around 35 mph with gusts as high as 46 mph. Strengthening is forecast and TD 16 will likely become Tropical Storm Nicole later today. The official forecast track moves the storm past Cuba tonight and past southeastern Florida Wednesday afternoon. Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued for mainland Monroe, coastal Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties, as well as extreme southern Miami-Dade County. A tropical storm wind warning is in effect for Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties. A tropical storm watch has been issued for Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin Counties. A flood watch has been issued for Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Collier, and inland Monroe Counties from 4:00pm Tuesday through 2:00pm Wednesday. 3-5 inches of rain are expected to fall over coastal areas of Southeast Florida over the next two days with higher amounts up to 7 inches possible. Elsewhere, 2-4 inches are likely across inland South Florida.
