Florida Highway Patrol kept busy over Labor Day weekend

The Highway Patrol has wrapped up its Labor Day enforcement and the Patrol was very busy. 17 people were killed in crashes on Florida roads over the Labor Day holiday – 6 fewer than last year.
There were 1300 crashes over the three day weekend – 78 of those were alcohol related.
Overall, Highway patrol officers arrested 80 people for driving drunk.
They also wrote over 5700 speeding tickets, and over 1500 seat belt and child restraint tickets.
The Highway Patrol also assisted over 3100 motorists on Florida roadways over the holiday weekend.
