Franklin County Humane Society seek good homes for neglected dogs

The Franklin County Humane Society is looking for families to adopt two dogs that were rescued from a Carrabelle home last year. The Husky mixes named Gracie and Serena have been at the Adoption Center since early October 2009 after they were confiscated by Franklin County Animal Control. The dogs were rescued from a home where they suffered serious neglect. They suffered from mange, intestinal parasites, were emaciated and one tested positive for heartworms. The owners were charged with animal cruelty. Since their rescue the dogs have been vaccinated, treated for mange, and for their intestinal parasites. They were fed twice a day to gain weight and strength and socialized to become adoptable once the case came to a close. Serena is heartworm negative so she will be spayed and available for adoption this week; Gracie will have to be treated for heartworms before she can be spayed and adopted out. The Humane Society is asking for donations to treat Gracie for heartworms. If you can help, please mail your donation to P.O. Box 417, Eastpoint, FL 32328 or stop by the animal shelter in Highway 65. If you would like to adopt one of the dogs, you can find pictures of them on the news page at oysterradio.com.
