Franklin County unemplyment rate continues to rise


            Franklin County unemployment rose for the fourth month in a row in September.
Franklin County saw a very small rise in unemployment from 8.9 percent to 9 percent; 451 Franklin County residents were looking for work last month.
Even with the higher unemployment rate, Franklin County still has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.
9 Florida counties had an unemployment rate lower than ours.
52 of Florida’s 67 counties had unemployment rates above 10 percent last month with the highest unemployment in the state in Hendry County at 20.2 percent.
The statewide unemployment average in September was nearly 12 percent.
Unemployment in Gulf County remained stable at 10.1 percent.
There were 683 people looking for work in that county.
Wakulla County’s unemployment also rose slightly from 8.5 percent to 8.6 percent – 1`420 people were looking for work there.
Unemployment in Liberty County actually fell last month from 7.4 percent to 7 percent giving Liberty County the lowest unemployment rate for any county in Florida.
