· At 11am EDT Tuesday, Tropical Depression Richard became a remnant low over the Bay of Campeche. Strong wind shear and dry air over the Gulf of Mexico put Richard in an area with conditions that were too hostile for re-development.
· As a result, the National Hurricane Center has discontinued advisories on this system and this will be the last tropics update for Richard.
· The remnant low of Richard is currently located about 170 miles west-northwest of Campeche, Mexico and is moving to the west-northwest at 12mph. This general motion is expected to continue for the next day or two.
· Maximum sustained winds are near 30mph and weakening is expected over the next day. The remnant low will likely dissipate over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico within the next 24 hours.
· Elsewhere in the tropics, a large area of showers and thunderstorms over the eastern Atlantic is associated with a low pressure area. This system has only been given a 30% chance of developing within the next 48 hours.
