FWC DIVISION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT FIELD OPERATIONS – Northwest Region WEEKLY REPORT November 5 - November 11, 2010

This report represents some events the FWC handled over the past week; however, it does not include all actions taken by the Division of Law Enforcement.

NORTHWEST REGION

SANTA ROSA COUNTY

Officer Howard Jones conducted foot patrol in various areas of the Eglin Reservation and Wildlife Management Area over two days.  On both days, Officer Jones located climbing tree stands positioned in the immediate proximity of corn that was distributed on the ground.  Both areas were watched for a number of days; however, the hunters did not return.  Later, both stands were seized and stored at the Pensacola Office evidence room and a business card was left on the trees.  Anyone wishing to claim these stands may contact the Pensacola Office and ask to speak to Officer Jones.

OKALOOSA COUNTY

Officer Danny Arnette was patrolling the north end of the county when he heard a gunshot.  He later located two subjects exercising a deer depredation permit.  A check with FWC Dispatch determined the subjects had not called in, which is a violation of the permit.  The subjects were issued written warnings for violation of the permit.

WALTON COUNTY

Officers Darrell Johnson and Randall Brooks worked a detail on Choctawhatchee River to enforce marine fishery rules and regulations.  Twenty vessels were checked and one subject was cited for possession of undersize spotted sea trout and warned for taking trout by an illegal method.

Later in the week on the Choctawhatchee River, Officer Brooks found another vessel operator in possession of undersize spotted sea trout.  The subject was cited for the violation.
