** ACT PRACTICE TESTThere will be a practice ACT given Sat, Jan. 8, at the old Apalach High School at 10:00am.
             On Thurs, Jan. 6, Dr. Catlin will be in Mr. Robinson’s room, # 1105, from 10:00-11:30am to register students who
             would like to take the practice test.  Students must pre-register to take the practice test!

**ACT REGISTRATIONFri, Jan. 7, is the last day to sign up for the 2/11/11 ACT which will be given at FCS.

**Senate Page Program Applications:  Due Jan. 10.  Applications in Guidance. Students must be at least 15
         years old.  Pages are responsible for delivering materials & messages to offices, will have the opportunity to meet with
         various elected officials, work in chamber during sessions, and participate in a mock session.  Students will be paid
         minimum wage.

**SOFTBALL TRYOUTS: Mon & Tues, Jan 10 & Jan 11 from 3:30-5:30 for M/S & H/S girls.

**SENIOR TRIP PAYMENT:  The second payment of $100 on the Senior Class Orlando Trip is due on
                                                                  or before Mon, Jan.10.  Turn your payment in to Mrs. Croom.

**Miss Seahawk PageantThe second annual Miss Seahawk Pageant will take place on Feb. 26 in the school
         cafeteria.  To be eligible to compete, girls must attend FCS & be in Pre-K – 11th grade.  There will be five age brackets.
         The entry fee is $50. Contestants must turn in a registration packet, along with entry fee, no later than Feb. 11
         to Ms. Lynn Clark.   

**SCHOLARSHIPSSeniors, scholarships are coming in!  Important Tips:  1) Encourage your parents to file their Income Tax Return as soon as possible (Pell grant & some scholarships require a copy).   2) Prepare- Essays, letters of
reference, resumes.  
             -Burger King Scholarship:  Due by Jan. 10

             -Florida Realtors Scholarship Essay Contest:  Due by Feb. 9.

TEACHER/STAFF Info

** Franklin County School-Related Employee of the YearThis is the first year a support staff member will be selected
              as a “Franklin County School-Related Employee of the Year”.  Support staff includes, but not limited to:
        paraprofessionals, secretaries, food service staff, bus drivers, custodians, bookkeepers, maintenance workers, &
        mechanics. Nomination packets may be picked up from Ms. Browning’s desk @ FCS, Joy Towns at FLC, & Rosa 
             Tolliver @ the school board office.  Packets must be submitted by Jan. 12th at 4:00pm.  The winner will be
             announced in March.

**SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MEETING:  Today, Jan 5, in front office conference room.

**CULINARY CLASS CAFÉFri, Jan. 7, serving from 10:45am-1:30pm.   Donation-  $8.00

**First Annual Oyster Cook-Off:  Jan. 15th, at the Apalachicola Veterans Waterfront Park from 1:00pm-7:00pm. 
The event will also include fun activities for kids & adults, music, food demonstration, and Art in the Sponge Exchange!  If interested in competing in the Oyster Cook-Off or have questions, visit www.oystercookoff.com  or call Marisa Getter @ 850/323-0385.     Fundraiser for the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department.



**GED CLASSES on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays (except holidays) from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the
                                       Franklin County Learning Center (the old Brown Elementary).
The next GED Test will be given Jan. 24 & 25 (note change of dates), at the Franklin County School library at 6:00pm.
