Franklin County Commissioners have agreed to name the field at the Franklin County-Apalachicola airport after a long-time Franklin County aviator.
The board agreed to name the field to honor the contributions of Cleve Randolph to the airport and to local aviation in general.
Mister Randolph was born in Apalachicola in 1923.
He worked at the airport as a teenager and became a navy pilot during World War 2.
After the war he opened a flight school in Apalachicola and over 30 years he taught more than 100 people how to pilot planes.
He also ran the local airport for 40 years.
Pal Rivers, who made the request for the name change, said this would honor a home-town boy who had a love of aviation.
County commissioners felt the honor was fitting and voted unanimously to add the name Cleve Randolph field to the official name of the airport.
