ELEMENTARY DISMISSAL IS AT 3:00 - M/S & H/S DISMISSAL IS AT 3:10
1. Please observe the dismissal times. Early pickup is for appointments or emergencies only.
2. Changes in ridership should be in a note (with a contact number) turned in to the front office by 10:00am.
3. Any changes to bus or car ridership by phone should be emergency basis only & must be done before 2:00pm.
FLORIDA WRITES TESTING
***Today, March 1 & Wed, March 2 - - - 4th, 8th, & 10th grades will be testing.
4th grade will test in classrooms, 8:30-11:45am. 8th grade will test in the library.
10th grade test rooms have been assigned. Please do not interrupt testing areas!
Make-up tests will be done March 3 & 4.
LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED - - -
Today & Wed, March 1 & 2, until 11:30am due to testing.

**”I Like Me”: The Nest after-school program in Carrabelle will host “I Like Me! A Self Esteem Celebration” today, March 1, from 5:30-7:00pm in the Carrabelle Municipal Complex cafeteria. There will be book reading, craft making, refreshments & a special family workshop on the importance of reading. Each child will receive a book to take home compliments of Bring Me a Book Franklin, a non-profit organization.

ACADEMIC INFORMATION
**ACT Registration: Fri, March 4, is the last day to register for the April 9 ACT.
**Take Stock in Children Mentoring Program Applications– Deadline extended to March 7th!
Available for students in 6th – 9th grades. The program provides one on one mentoring and 4 years (2 + 2) of college
scholarships for eligible students. To find out if you are eligible and/or to receive an application, please contact Dr. Lois
Catlin at FC-EF@hotmail.com . An application will be placed in your teacher’s mailbox for delivery to you or sent via
e-mail as a pdf. Completed applications are to be put in Dr. Catlin’s mailbox (give to Ms. Browning in front office).
**FAMU’s Annual Spring Preview: Saturday, March 26, from 8:30am-2:00pm for juniors, seniors, & community
college transfers. Pre-register at www.famu.edu click on “Events”, then click on “Spring Preview”.
**Certified Nursing Assistant Program: Students interested in program need to apply NOW!!! April 29 is the
end date. They are interviewing applications starting now! You can get in touch with Pat Wagner, GFC Nursing
Secretary @ 227-9670 EXT. 5522. The earlier you apply the better.
**SCHOLARSHIPS: Seniors, scholarships are coming in! Important Tips: 1) Encourage your parents to file their
Income Tax Return as soon as possible (Pell grant & some scholarships require a copy). 2) Prepare- Essays, letter
of Reference, resumes.

**Reading Endorsement Competencies 4/5 Classes: March 2, 9, 23, 30, & April 6.
Classes will be at Learning Center, room 19, from 3:00-7:00pm. Sign up on ePDC for the course. Remember,
if you are teaching intensive reading to H/S, M/S, or ESE students, you are required to have Reading Endorsement.

**New Website for “The Nest”: The Nest after-school program has launched a new website –
The website will provide a glimpse at some of their offerings, along with news,
photos, & updates. Parents can download enrollment applications & Nest bus forms.
**DOE Social Media Access: The Florida Department of Education now has the resources to provide additional channels for the department to receive feedback from & communicate with educators, students, parents, & all Floridians.

**GED CLASSES on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays (except holidays) from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the
Franklin County Learning Center (the old Brown Elementary).
The next GED Test will be given March 7 & 8 at the Franklin County School library at 6:00pm.
