Foul play not suspected in death at local hotel

Franklin County sheriff’s officials are investigating the death of a local man Tuesday night but do not suspect foul play.

The body of 46 year old Robert Cooper of Apalachicola was discovered at the Sportsman’s Lodge motel Wednesday morning.

Mister Cooper had checked in to the hotel late Tuesday night, his body was found on the floor of his room just after 10 o’clock Wednesday morning by the maid staff.

Sheriff’s officials say the cause of death is currently unknown though it appears it was natural causes; Mister Cooper’s body has been transferred to the medical examiners office for an autopsy.
