Florida to offer special hunts to injured veterans

The state of Florida is considering creating some special hunts as a way to say thank you to wounded veterans. Under legislation unveiled this week, the state will honor wounded veterans with access to “special hunt areas” in certain state parks. In addition to providing special outdoor recreational opportunities for eligible veterans, the legislation will also allow for private donations to fund the development and installation of special facilities to accommodate the needs of disabled veterans. The State already hosts weekend trips for wounded veterans to hunt in designated areas of Florida’s state forests. In the last year, more than 20 wounded veterans have hunted during the weekend trips.
