Franklin County unemployment drops in February


Unemployment in Franklin County fell sharply in February.
Unemployment fell to 8.7 percent last month after rising to 9 and a half percent in January.
453 people were looking for work in February, that’s 37 fewer than the month before.
The statewide unemployment rate in February from 11.8 percent to 11 percent while 43 of Florida’s 67 counties had unemployment rates of 10 percent or and above.
Unemployment in Gulf County remained high last month at 11.4 percent, but that’s down substantially from 12.4 percent in January.
699 people were looking for work in Gulf County last month.
In Liberty County the unemployment rate remained fell from 7.6 to 7.1 percent with 279 people looking for work there.
Wakulla County’s unemployment rate fell from 8.7 to 7.9 percent with nearly 1335 people looking for jobs in that county.
