Unemployment in Franklin County jumped to 9.4 percent in January after touching 9 percent in December.
486 people were looking for work in January, that’s 18 more than the month before.
The statewide unemployment rate in January was 11.8 percent while 51 of Florida’s 67 counties had unemployment rates of 10 percent or and above.
In Gulf County unemployment jumped to 12.4 percent in January - 765 people were looking for work there.
In Liberty County the unemployment rate remained stable at 7.6 percent with 300 people looking for work there.
Liberty County had the lowest unemployment rate in Florida in January.
Wakulla County’s unemployment rate jumped from 8.3 to 8.7 percent with nearly 1500 people looking for jobs in that county.
