Gulf Sturgeon Focus of April 14 Lecture at FSU Coastal and Marine Lab

HISTORY, FUTURE OF GULF STURGEON IS TOPIC OF APRIL 14 TALK AT FSU COASTAL AND MARINE LAB

On Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m., Florida State University's Coastal and Marine Lab will host a free, public lecture on the fisheries history and current population status of Gulf sturgeon, the rare Florida fish species noteworthy for their large size, unique appearance and use of both river and coastal habitats. The talk will address threats to the species that include ongoing water allocation disputes within the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River basin. The scheduled speaker is University of Florida professor Bill Pine, a faculty member in UF's Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation.

Light refreshments will be served following the lecture, which is a part of the FSU Coastal and Marine Lab's ongoing Conservation Lecture Series.

Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
