Humane Society begins spay/neuter voucher program

The Franklin County Humane Society is raising money to begin a spay/neuter voucher program to help local pet owners that want their dogs fixed but can’t afford to have it done.

The fund raising drive includes a donation jar campaign, raffle ticket sales and contributions mailed directly to the Humane Society.

Donations can be made at jars placed at businesses around the county.

The raffle is for two prize baskets worth over 100 dollars each filled with gifts for people and pets.

You can buy raffle tickets for $2.00 at Petunia’s, Penelope’s, Pro Groomers, Apalachicola Bay Animal Hospital and the Animal Shelter on Highway 65.

The drawing will be held on April 1.

If you would like to get an application for the program you can pick them up at the Franklin County Adoption Center, Animal Control and Apalachicola Bay Animal Clinic.

They should be available beginning April 1st.

Applicants will need to sign a statement that they are unable to pay for the needed surgery.

A monthly drawing will then be held and applicants receiving a voucher will pay a small amount toward the surgery and the balance will be paid by the Humane Society through funds raised for the program.

If you would like to make a donation for the spay/neuter voucher program  you can send a ckeck to the Humane Society at P.O. Box 417, in Eastpoint.

Just write “Voucher Program” on the check.
