APALACHICOLA, FL – March 9, 2011 - Superior Bank announced today that it has donated a .35 acre lot to the Franklin County division of Habitat for Humanity. Habitat’s mission is to eliminate poverty housing from Franklin County, Florida, and to make decent, affordable shelter for all people a matter of conscience. With the Superior Bank donation, a family will be offered a more affordable housing option.
Stephnia Turrell, Superior Bank’s Branch Manager in Apalachicola, said, “We are happy to be a part of such a great community. Donating the lot is our way of giving back.” Franklin County Habitat President Skip Frink commented, “We are overjoyed at your donation, as land has been our biggest obstacle to serving the affordable housing needs of Franklin County. With your donation, we will soon be announcing the start of one, and possibly two new Habitat homes in Eastpoint. Many thanks to Superior Bank, from the affiliate members, our contributors over the years and the residents of Franklin County who so desperately need access to simple, affordable housing.” Cliff Butler, Treasurer – Habitat for Humanity Franklin County, added, “We are even more pleased that employees of Superior Bank want to put a team together to help us build our first Eastpoint House.” Members of the community are invited to join the building crew by contacting Habitat for Humanity at www.habitatfranklin.org.
