2 million dollars in federal funding coming to Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana

Nearly 2 million dollars in federal funds are coming to Florida, Alabama and Louisiana to support economic recovery efforts one year after the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
The Economic Development Administration will award $1 million dollars to Florida’s Great Northwest, Inc. of Destin to help attract new companies and new investments to northwest Florida.
About 600 thousand dollars will go to the Economic Development Partnership of the Alabama Foundation in Birmingham to help guide recovery initiatives in Alabama.
EDA will also make a $400,000 investment to the newly formed New Orleans Startup Fund of Louisiana to promote small business development in that area.
The money is part of a U.S. Commerce Department’s Gulf Coast initiative which is a national effort to extend business assistance resources to communities across the country.
