NORTHWEST REGION
OKALOOSA COUNTY
Near the Destin Bridge, Officers Ken White and Matt Webb conducted a fisheries inspection on a fisherman who was unable to produce a saltwater fishing license. Officer White requested identification from the subject who produced a fake Florida identification card. FWC Dispatch confirmed the subject had an active warrant out of Dade County for violation of probation from an original driving under the influence charge. The subject was transported by an Okaloosa County deputy and booked into jail for the active warrant.
WALTON COUNTY
Officer Darrell Johnson located a vehicle concealed in a wooded area near Freeport. He tracked two subjects from the vehicle and suspected they were trespassing on adjoining property after he noticed they were trying to conceal their footprints. Officer Johnson later located two subjects trespassing and turkey hunting on posted private property without permission. Both subjects were cited for trespassing.
Officer Espy Letcher checked a subject fishing along Highway 331 and Choctawhatchee Bay. An inspection of the subject’s fish revealed an undersized redfish. The subject was cited for the fish violation.
Washington County
Officers Kathy Jackson and Lane Kinney worked boating safety enforcement and spring turkey season this past week. The officers issued five citations for no fishing license, 20 boating safety and registration violations, one trespass arrest, and one turkey permit violation.
After a foot chase, Officer Lane Kinney issued two citations to a 16-year-old youth for hunting without a license and no turkey stamp. The boy was hunting from a roadway in full camouflage and fled on foot near Holmes Creek upon seeing Officer Kinney. He stated he was afraid of a license check.
