“Living on the Edge, How to Have a Firewise Community” coming to Franklin County

There will be a program in May to help people in the community prepare for wildfire season.

The workshop called “Living on the Edge, How to Have a Firewise Community” will be provided by the Franklin County Emergency Management office and the Florida Division of Forestry.

And the information you get could be very important as this is expected to be a very active wildfire season.

Due to drought conditions, the local wildfire risk is likely to escalate and this workshop will be a first step toward a coordinated, community-wide planning effort to look at both wildfire prevention and response.

The workshop will help participants look at ways to incorporate wildfire protection practices into the daily operation of Franklin County’s communities, especially those in vulnerable areas where the towns meet the woods.

The workshop will be held on May the 17th but you do need to pre-register.

You can do that by calling 352-359-0722.
