Franklin and Gulf County schools will receive grants from Progress Energy to help teach energy education to local students.
The 12,500 dollar grants will go to the local Education Foundations to support energy education programs from kindergarten through 12th grade, with an emphasis on programs that include energy efficiency, renewable energy and environmental education.
The grant is one of eighteen Progress Energy is providing to schools statewide totaling a half million dollars.
That’s $57,000 dollars more than last year’s contribution to aid education in the state.
