There were no traces of oil found on local beaches during a survey done earlier this month.
SCAT teams were on local beaches looking for any sign of oil that may have come from last summers BP oil gusher.
Emergency Management Director Pam Brownell said she accompanied survey teams on their search and they were very thorough.
They were also well disguised – the survey team was not allowed to use their ATVs on the beaches nor did they wear their red vests so they looked like tourists walking down the beach.
The SCAT teams will now return to check local beaches for oil every three months and after any major storm during this year’s hurricane season.
