On Wednesday, April 13th there will be a public meeting to discuss various
aspect of the proposed biomass power plant to be located in Port St. Joe. Among the
speakers will be Dr. William Sammons, a pediatrician, who will address the health risks
associated with such plants. There will also be local speakers who will talk about other
important environmental topics. The operation of this facility will affect residents in both
Gulf and Franklin counties.
The meeting will be held on the second floor of the Capital City Bank in Port St.
Joe. The bank is located at 504 Monument Avenue (U.S. Highway 98). The meeting
will begin at 6p.m. (Eastern time). The meeting is being hosted by Gulf Citizens for
Clean Renewable Energy. The meeting is free and open to the public.
