There were fewer tar balls today than yesterday, and we have four crews working on the island. They plan to have the beaches cleaned today and Commissioner Jackel and I will do a ride alone to verify that the beaches are as clean as possible. They will be checking Dog Island this afternoon we had reports of tar balls on the West end. Furthermore, there has been a rumor of someone tongs up oysters with oil on them. Officer Chandler and I have chased the rumor down and the person who supposedly tongs these up denied this rumor, in fact they have worked very little.
