Florida's minimum wage workers get a 6 cent an hour raise beginning today.
The state’s minimum wage increases to $7.31 an hour today.
The new minimum wage for tipped workers also rises by 6 cents, from $4.23 to $4.29 an hour. Generally the minimum wage goes up in January, but this year it took a court ruling to raise the Florida minimum wage to reflect last year’s increase in the cost of living.
In 2004, 72 percent of Florida voters agreed to amend the state’s Constitution to enact a state minimum wage that rises with any increase in the cost of living index.
