Governor Rick Scott's Weekly Radio Address for June 10, 2011

Weekly Radio Address – Friday, June 10, 2011

This week I led a delegation of Florida business leaders to Canada – our state’s number one economic partner. While there, the delegation met with more than 120 companies that want to invest in Florida.

In addition, I met one-on-one with Canadian CEOs to hear their perception of Florida’s business climate and where we can improve.

Everywhere I went in Montreal and Toronto, I sent the message that Florida is open for business.

I also announced Canadian company Garda is relocating its U.S. headquarters to Boca Raton, from California.

Garda is one of the largest security and cash logistics companies in the world.

Their investment in Florida will create approximately 100 new professional jobs in our state, with an average wage of more than $65,000.
Garda’s decision to move to Florida speaks volumes about the strides we are making to create the best business environment in the U.S. It is proof we are capturing the attention of the business community worldwide.

I also met with two Ontario-based companies establishing operations in Florida – Toronto Sky Aviation, operating as Aircraft Armature inc., and UCC Steelwork Connections Inc.

Together, the two companies will add approximately 110 jobs to the aerospace and manufacturing industries in Florida.

I continue to strive every day to make Florida the number-one state for business and international trade.
