Gulf Council to Meet via Webinar to discuss Mackerel Amendment

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will convene a meeting via webinar to review its June 2011 actions regarding preferred alternatives for annual catch limit and accountability measures for Gulf-group Spanish mackerel, and to possibly make modifications.

The webinar is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST July 12, 2011, and it is expected to last no longer than 30 minutes. Anyone interested in participating in the webinar must register – you can register by visiting http://gulfcouncil.org/news_resources/upcoming_webinar.php. An agenda and meeting materials may be obtained by calling 813-348-1630.

Although other non-emergency issues not on the agenda may come before the Council for discussion, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, those issues may not be the subject of formal action during this meeting. Actions of the Council will be restricted to those issues specifically identified in the agenda and any issues arising after publication of this notice that require emergency action under Section 305(c) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, provided the public has been notified of the Council’s intent to take action to address the emergency.

This meeting is physically accessible to people with disabilities. Requests for sign language interpretation or other auxiliary aids should be directed to Kathy Pereira at the Council at least five working day prior to the meeting.

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is one of eight regional fishery management councils established by the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act of 1976. The Council prepares fishery management plans designed to manage fishery resources in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
