Power should be restored to St. George Island tonight

Electric power should be restored to St. George Island overnight tonight.

The power company did not have an exact estimate for when power will be up but said it should be up and running by Wednesday morning.

The company is right now working to move 8 generators to the island to provide power while the company repairs two damaged power poles in the bay.

The power poles were damaged Monday night during a strong storm.

It is expected to take several days to repair the power poles – a lot will depend on weather conditions over the next few days.

Progress Energy said to help when the power does come back on people should turn off all of their electric appliances and air conditioners.

That will make it easier to bring the generators on-line.

The power company said they should have updated information Tuesday morning.
