Capital Area Chapter Deploys An Emergency Response Vehicle for Hurricane Irene

Tallahassee Florida- Thursday, August 25, 2011-Hurricane Irene is expected to make landfall along the eastern shores later this week with winds gusting as high as 150 mph, and the American Red Cross is getting ready for a full East Coast response by preparing shelters for evacuees, pre-positioning numerous Emergency Response Vehicles and disaster supplies, and mobilizing disaster workers in the affected areas.
The American Red Cross Capital Area Chapter is planning to deploy an Emergency Response Vehicle to Maryland along with two volunteers tomorrow, August 26 at 8am leaving from the Red Cross headquarters at 1115 Easterwood Drive, Tallahassee. 
“Our volunteers will once again demonstrate the spirit of the American Red Cross by helping thousands who need us most during this crisis showing their passion for compassion,” said Dan Samborn, CEO of the American Red Cross Capital Area Chapter.
 The Capital Area Chapters Emergency Response Vehicle is one of five leaving North Florida to Maryland in the designated staging area.  Please help the victims of this disaster by making a tax deductible contribution to the American Red Cross.
