Early voting has started in city elections

Early voting has started for municipal elections in Apalachicola and Carrabelle.

Registered voters in the cities can early vote through Friday at the County Supervisor of Elections office at 47 Avenue F in Apalachicola and at the Election office annex at 1647 Highway 98 in Carrabelle.

There are two races in Apalachicola this year.

Current mayor Van Johnson is facing city resident Tom Daly for the mayor’s seat.

There is also a race for City Commission seat number 1 which is currently held by Mitchell Bartley.

He is facing local businessman Jerry Hall in that race.

In Carrabelle there are two candidates trying to unseat Mayor Curley Messer – they are Charles “Shawn” Oxendine and Christopher “Massey” Rose.

There are also three city commission seats up for grabs in Carrabelle this year.

There are three candidates vying for two seats – those include Frank Mathes, Charlotte Snyder and gene Spivey.

The top two vote getters in that race will become commissioners.

Incumbent Jim Brown is facing Brenda LaPaz for his seat on the commission.

You can see both ballots posted on the news page at oysterradio.com.

And remember – early voting ends Friday – election day is Tuesday, September the 6th.
