MEMORANDUM: Flags at Half-Staff for Lance Corporal Travis M. Nelson

Lance Corporal Travis M. Nelson, of Pace, Florida, died on August 18, 2011, in Helmand province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Lance Corporal Nelson enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on September 13, 2010. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

            

            In recognition of the loss of Lance Corporal Nelson, I, Rick Scott, Governor of the State of Florida, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by 4 U.S.C. § 7(m), as amended on June 29, 2007, and the laws and Constitution of the State of Florida, proclaim and direct as follows:

1.         All State and National flags shall be flown at half-staff at the County Courthouse of Escambia County, Florida, and at the City Hall of Century, Florida, on August 26, 2011, in honor of Lance Corporal Travis M. Nelson.

          2.         The State and National flags at the Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, shall also be flown       at                   half-staff on August 26, 2011, in honor of Lance Corporal Travis M. Nelson.
