Apalachicola and Carrabelle voters return incumbents to office

Voters in the cities of Apalachicola and Carrabelle went to the polls Tuesday where they returned many of the incumbents back to city government.

In Apalachicola Voters gave Van Johnson 4 more years as the cities mayor; they also agreed to return Mitchell Bartley to the city commission for another four year term.

In Carrabelle, Curley Messer defeated two opponents to win another four years as that cities Mayor.

It was a close race; Mayor Messer got 41 votes more than Charles Oxendine.

In the Carrabelle City Commission races, both Frank Mathes and Charlotte Schneider were returned to the city commission for 4 year terms.

Jim Brown, however, lost in his re-election bid.

He was defeated in a close race by Brenda La Paz.

Miss La Paz will serve on the Carrabelle City Commission for a two year term before she has to run again.
