Heavy
rains over the weekend have forced the closure of portions of the Apalachicola Bay.
Apalachicola Bay area 1642 closed at sunset Tuesday, area 1612
closed on Monday.
Both
area were closed because of too much rainfall.
State
biologists will continue to take water samples from the sites and will reopen
the areas when the sample
results conform to the management plan.
Oystermen can get daily bay status updates on the
internet at www.FloridaAquaculture.com
under the shellfish harvesting tab.
You can also hear a detailed pre-recorded message
of open and closed shellfish harvest areas 24 hours a day by calling 653-8317.
