The Seahawks football team saw their toughest opponent roll in here
this past Friday night at Mikel Clark sports complex and hand them a
49-7 loss. Though a large part of the outcome was due to the
strength and smashmouth style of football that the Bulldogs play, a
small portion of it was the result of unfortunate miscues.
"We felt we have a chance to compete with Liberty, and we knew that we
would have to play just about perfect," according to Head Coach
Josh Wright. "
It seemed like the early game miscues of getting tripped up, mishandling the ball and barely missing a fumbled punt return made us doubt our ability to compete. They have a stingy defense that has only given up 27 points on the year and the flat came off the ball better than we did. Hopefully, we learn from this and react by getting to work Monday and committing to win the line of scrimmage against Wewa this coming Friday night." Watching from the stands, most fans saw the Seahawks play great at times defensively and open the gate at other times. Liberty County's offense is patterned after Georgia Tech and Navy and was hitting on all cylinders at times in the first half. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were able to start every drive on a short field which made the task of stopping them even tougher. The second half was a better outing for the home team as they moved the ball down the field and found the end zone on a 34 yard sprint by Dwayne Griggs. That score was set up by a great block by Senior running back Brennan Walden. Griggs played sparingly on both sides of the ball, as this was his first game back from what we thought was a season ending injury. "We have gelled as a team in Dwayne's absence as we all realize that the show must go on. Getting him back in the lineup is certainly a boost to the program as it gives another running back and another defender that can get the ball carrier on the ground. He has been a positive energy on the sideline at our games and has been at every practice since the injury on August 26th. He was very excited to get back on the field and be a contributor to his team, " said Wright.

The Seahawks travel to Wewahitchka this coming Friday night. The
Gators are also 2-2 and are sporting an offense that has been putting up
big
numbers in terms of yardage and scoring. "Their top threat is
running back Theryl Brown who nearly averages 200 yards a game of
offense. They also have a bruising quarterback by the name
of Justin Flowers that recently returned from a broken arm he received
in
the August 26th jamboree. The are a physical team that is getting
better each week and moves the pile when they run their single wing
offense," according to Wright. This is a very important
game for the 2-2 Seahawks and Coach Wright encourages
every Franklin County sports fan to make the trip to Wewa and bring
that Franklin County pride to the visitors stands. Kickoff is set
for 8:00 pm EST. ...
