Food Drive Underway at Wakulla Chamber of Commerce
Donations will serve
dozens of hungry families
WAKULLA, Fla –
Wakulla Chamber of Commerce is partnering with America’s
Second Harvest of the Big Bend to bring Wakulla residents donated
groceries through a food drive. The drive aims to collect 300 pounds of
non-perishable goods by September 30.Donors can drop off non-perishable items in bins at the Chamber of Commerce, located at 23 High Drive in Crawfordville. Common donations include high-quality, nutritious food such as canned meats, peanut butter, canned vegetables and fruits, canned soups, rice, pasta and whole grain cereal. Non-food items are also accepted, including new deodorants, soaps, toothpastes and toothbrushes, hair brushes and diapers.
The Chamber will deliver the donations to America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend. The donations will then be sorted and distributed to partners in Wakulla County, putting food on the tables of countless families.
One local partner making an impact on the food drive is St. Mark’s Powder. The Crawfordville manufacturer is accepting donations through a generous company-wide campaign.

The 2011 Coastal Cleanup is hosted by Keep Wakulla County Beautiful and The Ocean Conservancy.You choices of sites: St. Marks Refuge, Mashes Sands, Bottoms Road, Shell Point, Ochlockonee Bay or Woolley Park.

Ignite the Fight Golf Tournament and 5K Run
Ignite the Fight is making plans for the annual Ignite the Fight Golf Tournament and 5K Run this September 30th and October 1st. The success of this event is credited largely to our sponsors, who lend their names and financial support to the event. The money we raise goes to the Wakulla County United Fire Fighters Association (WCUFFA), and this years goal is $20,000. The proceeds will be used towards training and new equipment.By participating as a sponsor, your organization will benefit from extended exposure through media campaigns and promotional efforts directed toward the supporters of Ignite the Fight.
We have different levels of sponsorship packages, as detailed on the enclosed sponsorship commitment form. Smoke & Fire” Firefighter’s BBQ Competition – Fundraiser
Come on out and support this awesome BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 11 am -4pm at Hudson Park.Check out the fire trucks, ambulances, spray the fire hose and maybe even try on the gear to see if you may want to join the fire service! This event is to help burned children and young people that want to be Firefighters or EMTs. None of the fire departments will receive any part of the profits. VFW Post 4538 Holding Chinese Auction
What: Chinese Auction – You purchase a page of 25 tickets for $5.00, then you put your ticket(s) on what item(s) you want to bid on. The auctioneer will pull one ticket for each item and that ticket is the winner. Must be present to win.Where: Wakulla County Memorial VFW Post 4538 at 475 Arran Rd, Crawfordville, FL
When: October 1st, 2011 viewing of items begins at 6:00PM and the auction will begin at approximately 7:00PM
Why: To raise funds for the Ladies Auxillary to the VFW Post 4538 which will be used to support their various veteran and community support programs.
