Pruett Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc.
Welcome George and Joshua Pruett of Pruett Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc., to the chamber. In business in Franklin County for over 35 years, Pruett Air Conditioning and Heating installs and repairs air condition and heating systems in both residential and commercial structures. They also do maintenance and repairs on all types of existing units. George and his father started the business 35 years ago and now his son Josh works with him. Josh has worked in the business since he was 15 years old. Pruett Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc can be reached by calling (850) 670-9000. Contractors Depot Contractors Depot rejoined the chamber last month. Dave and Margaret Tuplin along with their son Dave and daughter -in-law Dawn run the business. Contractors Depot sells all types of stainless steel fasteners, generators, pumps, diamond cutting tools and blades, concrete tools together with pest and mosquito control products, air conditioners, heaters, construction scaffolding, tool boxes and more. Dave and Margaret started the business in 1996. Previously they had the Franklin Rental Center in Apalachicola. Would like to showcase your business to new chamber members? The ABCC board of directors is collecting items to create welcome baskets for new members. If you have promotional items, gift cards, discount coupons, or calendars to add to these baskets contact the us or drop them by the chamber office. Superior Bank Is Now Cadence Bank November 11th, Superior Bank changed its name to Cadence Bank. Service, hours of operation, account numbers will all remain and the same. Gulf Coast State College Emerald Coast Dale Carnegie Training (ECDCT) and Gulf Coast State College (GCSC), Continuing Education department are pleased to announce their partnership to provide world-renowned leadership training to Bay County and surrounding areas beginning in January 2012. GCSC and ECDCT will offer the Dale Carnegie eight-week signature course, Leadership Training for Managers, and three other one-day workshops from January through May 2012. The Owl Café will be closed the first two weeks until December 18. The Apalachicola Seafood Grill will be closed from December 4th-Decomber 18th. Press Scott Leysath with was here in early November filming a new segment for the Sportsman Channel.com. He also produces a show called Hunt, Fish, Cook. Bob Trigaux with the St Pete Times called seeking information about Apalachicola’s historic district. Willi Miller was here in mid November. She is the host for an NPR station on the Treasure Coast and she also writes the Friday Arts & Entertainment column for several Treasuer Coast newspapers. She visited our area art galleries, restaurants and shops. Ken Keeler was sent photos for a blog he writes for Independence RV.com. He has 3,000+ readers and is working on a blog about the Gulf Coast. Wooden Boat magazine and Heartland Boating were sent information on the Apalachicola Antique & Classic Boat Show. Events Eastpoint Christmas Celebration Santa will arrive in Eastpoint on December 1st and be on hand to celebrate from 6:00 -8:00 pm at the Eastpoint Pavilion on the bay. Come decorate the Christmas tree, enjoy some holiday cheer, treat for the kids and see Santa (850) 653-5596. Island Lights The Island Lights festivities will begin at 5:00 at mid-island in the St. George Lighthouse Park on December 2, from 5:00 -7:00 pm. There will be a one mile "Jingle Jog", Santa is expected around 6:00, plus there will be efreshments. View the lighting of the island palms at sundown. For more information call (850) 927-7744. Holiday Fresh Market Holiday Fresh Market will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, in Apalachicola from 10:00 am-3:00 pm. Forget traffic, the crowds, and the headaches of going to the mall. Buy local and chose from handmade, truly unique items for your holiday gifts. Handmade chutneys, preserves, Christmas trees, wreaths, jewlery and baked goods. Open to all, the cook off will raise funds for the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department and show off one of our best assets, our fresh Apalachicola Bay oysters. There will be music, great food and fun for the kids. Our Monthly Business Luncheon will be on Wednesday, December 7th,
at the Gibson Inn. We are asking members to bring a toy for the
Franklin County Toy Project to help make a child’s holiday special.
The Downtown Oyster Roast was wonderful this year! The setting across from Riverfront Park was magnificent. We would like to thank everyone who helped make it such a grand success: Panache Tent & Events for the lighting, tent and chairs, Bayside Gallery & Florist for chairs, table coverings, and last minute help, Party Rentals for chairs, plates and tables; Dackie Ward and Smokey Parrish of Buddy Ward & Son's Seafood for donating the delicious fresh local shrimp; Tommy and TJ Ward for the oysters; Joe Hutchison, Jereme Neill and Tommy Stevens for providing excellent music; Jerry Hall & Bev Hewitt of the Apalachicola Seafood Grill for helping us get the wine and set up for the event, plus providing the fish dip and pork; Fredric Kahler and Joe Witt for photographs; Centennial Bank for the use of their lot and their grills; Danny and the great staff at Tamara’s for preparing and serving the food and Cindy Clark with Bay Media for producing the tickets. Volunteers Needed
The Apalachicola Bay Chamber Visitor Center seeks volunteers to help at the visitors center and with special projects. Duties include giving our visitor information, answering questions about places to stay, restaurants and things to do. If you would like to help, we’d love to have you. It can be a fun and rewarding.
