Franklin County unemployment ticked up in December


Franklin County unemployment ticked up very slightly in December.

Local unemployment rose from 7.9 to 8.1 percent with 431 people looking for work.

Last month’s unemployment was much better than December a year ago when we had an unemployment rate of 9 percent.

Gulf County also saw a slight increase in unemployment from 9.9 to 10.1 percent.

611 people were looking for work in Gulf County last month.

In Wakulla County the unemployment remained stable at 7.6 percent, in Liberty County unemployment fell from 6.6 percent to 6.3 percent.

Last month Florida saw an overall drop in unemployment from 10 percent to 9.9 percent.

913 thousand people were looking for work statewide in December.
