telemarketers take 1st and 2nd place in Florida's top complaint list

Telemarketers topped the list of Florida consumer complaints again in 2011.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said there were nearly 12000 complaints about telemarketers violating the state’s “Do Not Call” list in 2011.

Another 8000 complaints were about telemarketers in general making it number 2 on the annual complaint list.

Third on the list were complaints about communications companies, while real estate complaints ranked 4th and complaints about mechanics rounded out the top 5.

Credit and banking issues made the top ten list at number six this year followed by landlord/tenant issues, travel and vacation plans, motor vehicle sales and complaints about cable TV.
There were nearly 42 thousand complaints filed with the Department of Consumer Services in 2011, just over 25 thousand of those complaints were successfully closed or resolved.
And by the way, if you would like to make it illegal for telemarketers to call you, you can register online at www.800helpfla.com.

It only costs $10 to register and then a $5 annual renewal fee.

If you would like to lodge a complaint against Florida company, you can do that by calling 1-800-HELP FLA.
