The
WIC program is re-opening in Carrabelle.
The
WIC program is a federally funded nutrition program for Women, Infants, and
Children.
It
provides free healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding
support, and referrals for health care.
The
program has not had a presence in Carrabelle since the health department closed
its clinic there last year requiring that mothers on the eastern end of the
county travel to Apalachicola for service..
Beginning
March 20th the clinic will reopen at the Carrabelle health
department building.
After
that it will be open on the third Tuesday of every month from 9 to 3:30 .
The
WIC program also provides services in Apalachicola at the Franklin County Health
Department every Thursday from 9:30 to 3:30 .
