WIC services to be offered in Carrabelle

The WIC program is re-opening in Carrabelle.

The WIC program is a federally funded nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children.

It provides free healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care.

The program has not had a presence in Carrabelle since the health department closed its clinic there last year requiring that mothers on the eastern end of the county travel to Apalachicola for service..

Beginning March 20th the clinic will reopen at the Carrabelle health department building.

After that it will be open on the third Tuesday of every month from 9 to 3:30.

The WIC program also provides services in Apalachicola at the Franklin County Health Department every Thursday from 9:30 to 3:30.

For more information or an appointment, contact the Leon County WIC office at 850-606-8300 .
